The Arts and Sciences Career Services Office provides a team of experienced Internship Specialists to assist with internship development and recruitment. Whether your organization is in the private, government or non-profit sectors, the Internship Specialists can assist with:
- Internship development
- Building an applicant pool
- Evaluating the benefits of participating in a campus career fair
Should you want assistance in developing a successful internship program, a member of our staff will guide you through the steps associated with evaluating the proposed intern duties and preparing documents for recruitment and other purposes (e.g., evaluating the intern’s performance). Please contact Assistant Director Scott Kustis at firstname.lastname@example.org or 614-247-8698 if you are interested in creating an internship opportunity for an Arts and Sciences student. You are encouraged to review the Getting Started with Designing an Internship guidelines [pdf] prior to contacting Mr. Kustis.
Building an Applicant Pool
Employers who collect resumes via posted openings on FutureLink are assured that the applicants are interested in being considered for their internship opportunities. If you are working with one of the office’s Internship Specialists, that staff member will be able to facilitate the resume referral process by sharing the resumes of their advisees or through referrals to staff in the academic departments who also advise students about internships.
Evaluating the Benefits of Participating in a Campus Career Fair
Our office sponsors several different career fairs throughout the academic year. Some fairs target specific majors, while others have a variety of opportunities for all students. Please consider registering for a career fair that meets your recruiting needs.
In conjunction with your career fair participation, you can maximize your time on campus by scheduling one or all of the following:
- Arrange an information session before or after the career fair
- Conduct on-campus interviews of selected candidates
- Speak to workshop attendees or serve as a mock interviewer
Many different career fairs exist on the Ohio State campus each year. For a complete list of all career fairs, visit careers.osu.edu for more information.
